Old work, new tools.

So I may be late to the party on this, but have any of you run old design work through new tools to see what life may be breathed into them?

For practice, I’ve dug through the archives for old project sketches and run them through Vizcom and Midjourney’s Retexture tools.

It’s fascinating to see visualizations created instantly that would have taken days at the time.  In terms of original design intent, some of the interpretations are spot on, some aren’t even close.

A valid question is - were such tools available then, would the final products have turned out better than they did with the traditional workflow?

In some cases, I’d say yes.  I think the Freemotion ellipticals and the bike computers look fantastic, and with refinement could have turned out more sophisticated than the originals did.  In other cases, maybe not.  Either way, it’s a fun exercise.
